I was recently sent a potty training review kit from Kandoo to try out with my youngest daughter, who is two years old. All opinions are 100% my own.

Potty training can be tough. Use these five tips to ensure successful potty training.

Let’s face it, potty training can be tough. There are good days, bad days, and days you have piles of laundry from all of the accidents. Although there is no “easy” way to potty train, here are five tips to help make potty training a success.

1. A “Kandoo” attitude.

As with everything, a positive attitude can be all the difference between a good and bad day. Even on the bad days, keep at it. Be positive and know that this is a learning experience for your toddler. It will come, but it may just take a little longer. Toddlers and children respond better to positive reinforcement than a frustrated parent. Keep up a “kandoo” attitude even when the discouraging days hit.

2. A Routine.

Toddlers thrive on boundaries and routines. By creating a routine of using the bathroom, it will help ease the confusion of potty training and get them moving in the right direction. Your routine may include your child read a book while sitting on the potty, singing a song, or some other activity that will keep them still long enough to use the potty. You know your child best so use what works well for his/her style of learning and personality.

Kandoo encourages a routine of “I went! I wiped! I flushed! I washed!” You can even dowload your potty training toolkit here to help you establish a successful routine for you and your child.

3. Flushable Wipes.

Your toddler is used to you cleaning him/her up after accidents, and are used to wipes. When learning how to use the bathroom, toddlers don’t always clean up the best. Using flushable wipes like the Kandoo ones, help your little one feel independent. It can also help you feel reassured since Kandoo Wipes clean 30% better than regular toilet tissue! You can even print a coupon to help you save money on Kandoo products here.

4. Fun Soap.

Let’s face it, kids aren’t always the best at washing their hands. The sooner you can instill in them the importance of washing their hands, the better the chances are it will become a healthy routine for them.

Kandoo has BRIGHTFOAM® soap, which lets your child know when his/her hands are covered in soap. It is a bright green color, and my youngest LOVES the bright colors. The BRIGHTFOAM® soap actually encourages Landrye to wash her hands, which I like since it is teaching her independence. Isn’t that part of potty training, is the independence? ????

5. A rewards system.

Toddlers respond well to positive reinforcement. By reinforcing a potty routine with a sticker chart or rewards system, it will help ensure he/she masters potty training. In the potty training toolkit, there is a chart where your toddler can mark off each time he/she “went, wiped, flushed, and washed”.

You can even have a special “prize” once your child “went, washed, flushed and wiped” 5 times in a row, or whatever number you decide is good for your child. Start small and work up to a bigger prize. Along with the routine and then positively reinforcing it, your child is sure to master using the potty in no time!
