Save some money by making your very own candles at home. It's super easy, and you can even give them as gifts. #diy

One of my favorite things about fall is being able to open the windows to let the cool air in, and burning a “fall scented” candle. It’s just super relaxing to me and it makes my house smell like Pumpkin Muffins, or in this case, Baked Apple Streusel. If you enjoy the smell of candles burning in your house, but are on a budget, you can easily make them yourself.

Making candles at home can save quite a bit of money, plus you can make them any scent and/or color you want. These also make great gifts!

Baked Apple Streusel Candle

Ingredients

  • Candle Votive Holders Like these
  • Unscented Candle Wax (3 Cups)
  • Colorful Sprinkles
  • Candle Wicks
  • Microwave Safe Bowl
  • Baked Apple Streusel Warming Wax (Found at Walmart)
  • Corn Syrup

Instructions

  1. Take your unscented candle and start shredding it into flakes using a sharp knife.
  2. Take your glass votives, turn them on their side, and pour in about 2 Tbsp of Corn syrup.
  3. Using your finger or a paint brush, spread the syrup around to cover all of the edges.
  4. Quickly pour in your sprinkles covering the top of the votive and shake until the side rims are completely coated.
  5. Take your candle wick and place a small amount of corn syrup on the bottom. Then press it firmly onto the bottom middle of the votive holder.
  6. Pour your candle flakes into a microwave safe bowl, and place your Baked Apple Scented wax cubes on top.
  7. Place the bowl in the microwave for 3 minutes. Once complete, remove the bowl using pot holders (the bowl will be very hot).
  8. Quickly pour your candle wax into your votives, focusing on pouring directly in the middle.
  9. Allow to set for about an hour before using.
