Do you like to reuse and repurpose items in your house? It is a great way to redecorate without spending a lot of money. One of my favorite things to upcycle is mason cars. Since Back to School is quickly approaching, I thought it was appropriate to upcycle a mason jar into a pencil holder.

This project is super easy too! All you need is a mason jar, some spray paint, and glitter. Then you can add it to a homework station, office, bedroom, or classroom.

Supplies Needed:

First, take your jar and turn it upside down on top of some newspaper outside. Start spray painting in a downward motion covering the base and sides. Apply two coats to get an even and matte appearance.

Once the jar dries, grab some washi tape and create a straight line around the center of your mason jar. This is going to act as your guide for a straight line.

Now, grab your mod podge and use your paint brush to paint the entire bottom half of your mason jar.

Quickly pour your glitter over the mod podge and tap off the excess.

Place outside for about 20 minutes to allow it to dry.  Now fill it up with all your fun pens, pencils, and markers.
