Target is one of my favorite stores to shop! I mean, what’s not to love about Starbucks, a dollar spot, and all the deals in ONE PLACE?? It took me a while to learn how to get the best deals at Target. Now that I have figured it out, I just can’t stop. I mean, Starbucks and freebies?! I just can’t contain my excitement when I can get a trip in to Target. ???? Now that I’ve learned how to snag awesome deals at Target, I’m going to share my secrets with you.

Want to learn how to save the most money at Target? Check out these 12 tips that will get you on your way to saving BIG at Target.

1. Go for the Gift Card Offers.

Go for the gift card offers! These are the “bread and butter” of Target deals. Normally, you have to purchase certain items and you receive a gift card back as part of the deal. You can use coupons, Cartwheel, and Target Coupons with these offers, and it adds up! This is the way to get scarves and purses without your husband knowing! ????

2. Use the free Target Cartwheel app.

Stack on the Cartwheel offers! Cartwheel is a FREE app from Target. It is FULL of discounts for items throughout the store. You can save anywhere from 5% to 50%. These offers are updated weekly. You can search to see if there is a Cartwheel offer for a particular item by typing in the name of the item or scanning the barcode of the item in the app.

3. Use Target Coupons.

Take advantage of the awesome store coupons! You can use Target mobile coupons or Target printable coupons. There are a lot available at all times. You can text OFFERS to 827-438 to receive Target mobile coupons regularly. You can print Target coupons here.

4. Use Manufacture Coupons.

Pair manufacture coupons with Target coupons, Cartwheel, AND gift card offers for hot deals! (You can find manufacture coupons in your Sunday paper or printable manufacture coupons here.) You can use one manufacture coupon, one Cartwheel offer, and one Target coupon per item (if applicable).

Target registers take discounts in this order:

  • Target Coupon
  • Cartwheel Offer
  • Manufacture Coupon
  • Red Card

5. The REDCard is the secret weapon of top savings at Target!

To top off the savings of Cartwheel, Target Coupons, and Manufacture Coupons, you can use your REDCard to save an additional 5% on top of all of this!

Little known fact: You can get the debit card version of the REDcard so you’re not getting another credit card! Get your REDcard here.

6. Stack rebates on top of all of the other savings at Target.

After all of these, you can STILL get rebates! You can use rebates from Checkout 51, Ibotta, SavingStar, MobiSave, and others to save even more money after you leave the store. Many times, items end up being free after these rebates.

7. Shop the End Caps.

The end caps is where you can find clearance items. To make the clearance deals better, you can stack coupons, Cartwheel, and all the other savings on top of these markdowns!

8. Know the Markdown Schedule at Target.

Target has a “markdown schedule”. It does vary a little from store-to-store, but knowing the Markdown schedule can really come in handy.

  • Monday-Electronics, Accessories, Kids Clothing, Books, Baby and Stationary
  • Tuesday-Domestics, Women’s Clothing, Pets, and Market (food items)
  • Wednesday-Men’s Clothing, Health & Beauty, Diapers, Lawn & Garden Items, and Furniture
  • Thursday-Housewares, Lingerie, Shoes, Toys, Sporting Goods, Decor, and Luggage
  • Friday-Auto, Cosmetics, Hardware, and Jewelry

9. Know how to read the clearance tags.

When Target puts an items on clearance, there is a little number in the top right hand corner of the price tag. It normally starts at 15 and goes up to 70. That little number shows the percentage off the item is marked down from the original price. If it’s just at 15, know that it will continue to get marked down all the way up to 70. When it’s at 70, this is the HIGHEST percentage off, and you need to grab that item (if you truly need it) right away because it’s a 70% savings! You can stack these awesome finds with coupons, Cartwheel, RedCard, and other rebates (unless otherwise specified).

10. Get a Rain Check if an item is out of stock.

If there is a really good deal on an item where a coupon stacked with a Cartwheel offer stacked with a gift card offer will make items free or a money maker, go early. If you can’t make it early and they are sold out when you get there, get a rain check. There should be a tear pad next to the item that reads “Rain Check,” you can take it to the customer service desk to request a rain check. This will ensure you receive the sale price even when the sale has ended and the items are back in stock. Normally, rain checks are good for 30 days unless otherwise specified.

11. Check the Weekly Ad.

Each Sunday, Target has a new weekly ad. You can see all of the deals here matched up with the coupons and Cartwheel to show you how to get the best deal. You can also make your shopping list before you go so you don’t get sucked into the vortex of end cap clearance finds, Starbucks, and gift cards. . or is that just me? ????

12. Get “in the know”.

A great way to save at Target is to know some of the unadvertised deals, the items that aren’t on sale but end up free with coupons, and other great deals. The best way to know this is to subscribe to receive only Target deals in your inbox (sign up below). I am a Target Fanatic and post a lot of Target deals. You can get these deals delivered to your inbox weekly (unless a really HOT deal comes up and then I will email you right away!).
